The Japanese Society for Neuroendovascular Therapy (JSNET) will hold its 32nd Annual Meeting (JSNET 2016) at Kobe International Exhibition Hall from November 24th through 26th, 2016. I feel truly honored to be hosting this event and would like to express my sincere appreciation to all of the society members offering me such an opportunity. Hosting this event is also an honor for my coworkers. We will do our best in making this event successful.

When I joined in the early 1990s, this society was relatively small. At that time, there was no clinical evidence to prove its efficacy, so it was sometimes regarded as an experimental treatment. However, we had a feeling that, one day, this minimally invasive method might become an important treatment option for cerebrovascular disease. This premonition turned out to be right. Year by year, neuroendovascular therapy was getting popular and a growing number of doctors joined this society. Today, JSNET is a big organization with more than 3,500 members. Also, lots of clinical studies demonstrated the efficacy of endovascular therapy in some fields, such as ruptured aneurysm treatment. I believe that endovascular therapy might become a first choice for cerebrovascular diseases.

Taken these processes into considerations, we selected “The Next Stage of Neuroendovascular Therapy” as the main theme of JSNET 2016. Over recent years, we encountered a series of breakthroughs, including mechanical thrombectomy or flow diverters, and even more new devices are still being developed in the world. Therefore, it is timely to turn our eyes toward the near future of this therapy. In order to provide the most up-to-date information, we will welcome distinguished guest speakers from all over the world. Simultaneous translation will be available in the main hall throughout the meeting. We look forward to seeing you and having your presentation and hot discussions in the meeting.
